Wow what an awesome idea! How much did that cost you to have made? Are you worried at all about sharp edges hurting the rats? I've got all my rats in cages right now but I'm planning to make up a modified version of that rat rack to use soon and I've got a couple chewers lol. Great idea and I will definitely have to look into doing something like that for mine.

You should definitely watch out for rust and oxidation though rat urine is absolutely notorious for rusting non-coated metals.

I had that problem with my mice. I found out that the gap between the top edge of the tub and the wire mesh is too big, so they can stick their little mouth in between and chew on the edge of the tub.

I see that you have the same situation, if you find a way to raise the tubs to be touching the hardware clothes, the problem should be solved.

I tried putting wood spacers in and that didn't help much, they still found a way to chew through.

Price was 18.23 per sheet of metal - took two sheets total cost was like < $60 for just the metal tubs. But I had a friend hook me up with them. :)

I didnt have any chewers but my gap was a little big between the tub and wire, I used bungy cords to hold it up tight!
