I would love to know as well, I had one of my breeder females out today and noticed her belly scales where a bit dry and flakey, The humidity seems to be fine and I use Aspen bedding.

Same thing is happening to my rescue. It's probably just a natural reaction from the belly heat + about to shed.
It's also getting dry out, so even if your humidity is ok, the dryness will affect the rest of the air, which circulates. :]

At least, that's what I came up with.

The belly scales curling out, or flakey.

For mine its not really the scales curling any, they just seem to flake off and look similar to dandruff or something...not the whole scale but maybe just little tiny flecks....Its only on the belly though everything else looks fine.

mine used to do this before her shed. there would be individual chale sheds ALL OVER her cage. she also had some whrinkling on a few scales on her spine. but when it was happening, someone told me it could be scale rot. i'd keep an eye in it till it stops. keep their bedding extra clean.

when this was happening to my snake, it was when i would soak her alot. i got laid off work so i had plenty of time to sit at home with my animals. i think the chlorine in the water induces this. the more i would soak her, the worse the scales would fall off. it's good to soak, but be sure to use the drops that condition the water and get the chlorine out. and don't over soak, if your snake feels dehyrated it will get in it's water dish.

My girl has had the same problem with her past two sheds. Not so much on the belly scales, but more on the sides and back. Just a few random flakes here and there. Her shed always comes off in one or two pieces, and my humidity never drops below 60% so I'm stumped about the cause also.

Oooh ok, that is that happens on occasions. Usually its from slightly low humidity.
