today is my sons 1st birthday party, and I just can not figure out where the year went. it seems like last week my wife was saying "its time" and off to the hostpital we went, and now here i am the father to a little boy that is walking and talking. it makes me not want to blink, I'm afraid if I do he is going to be graduating highschool..lol.. well its off to start setting everything up,

One day you're changing their diapers and spoon feeding them, and the next thing you know their doing it to you! I tell my mother, "Better be nice to me, I pick what nursing home you go in." LOL ;)

hahahahaha....so true. the day was so nice, you have to love california, here it is november and we had an outdoor party and had on shorts...my son could really care less about any of it, he opened one present and wanted nothing to do with the rest, and would only stick one finger in the cake at a time...I really wanted him to dig in and be covered head to toe in frosting...lol oh well

Don't worry, I'm sure that opportunity will present itself more times than you could ever hope for in the next few years. :)

Time does fly. My twins were born in Sept of 2000, and a year later I was deployed for OEF, and deployed each year there after for at least half of each year. In 2005 their mother and I went our seperate ways (too much time on the road and other things) and then I spent all off 2007 deployed to Afghanistan. While deployed that year, I realized one day that I'd been deployed for over half their lives....I dropped my retirement papers the next day.

Now I'm retired from the USAF and have a great job that lets me afford both the time and money to fly up to see them regularly. Every time I see them I marvel at how fast they're growing up.
