Need comfort - my breeder male is entering twilight
I almost cried this morning...my good albino het black silky male breeder is looking *really* old and I just know it's time for him to be put down. :tears:

I put him in with my best breeder girl ("regular" brown mouse het black silky and albino) this morning in hopes she can get his engines running one last time and give me a new good boy as a keeper breeder.

Just sad since I've had this boy over a year and brought him back from the jaws of death...

We had a really cold night here about a year ago and when I checked on the "livestock" the next morning, this guy was barely moving, he was so cold. I brought him inside and held him close, snuggling him up under my chin, to get him warmed up and back to life.

He's always been such a sweety, never bitten me or peed on me...I can always just hold him with one hand while I clean his cage with the other.

    :(

    So silly...I hate getting attached.

Sorry to hear about that. It sucks when we get attached to these little guys that only have a 1 or 2 year life span. I still remember my first mouse that I had oh.... 10 years ago. His name was Leo and he was a black silky mouse with a tan belly. Such a sweet mouse and made lots of babies (wasn't really trying to but just missed that the other mouse I had was a female lol). Hopefully he goes peacefully.

Aw, I'm so sorry...it's NOT silly, not at all....

I remember my very first mouse...given to me when I was 16...His name was Kringer and he went EVERYWHERE with me....i was sent home from school one day because I brought him with me.....when he died, I buried him under a tree on Long Pond Road (where he was given to me)...

to this day, and I am fourty(achoo)sumpthin' years of age...i still think if him fondly...

i really hope he goes softly....good friends are hard to come by...my thoughts are with you
