33% Humidity

I've read that corns can thrive at the household humidity but the changing of the seasons has dropped my apartment's humidity down to 33%. Is this too low? Should I try to keep it above 40%? Or do I only need to bump it up during shed? Thanks.

Far too low. You need a minimum of 50 percent in the enclosure. You bp will NOT thrive on low humidity because it will not shed properly. Poor sheds can result in a number of problems if not treated. I use a humidifier next to the tank, and a bowl of damp sphagnum moss in the enclosure. Make sure the top of your tank is covered about 3/4, and a nice wide water bowl helps too.

This may be so for balls, but corns, the snake the OP inquired about, are fine at lower humidities such as 33%.

You are totally right, thank-you very much for catching that. My fingers are apparently faster than my eyes....Mental note stored...

yup they do well with lower humidities.

And Missi, no worries at all! I also own a Ball Python which was why I was asking the question in the first place. Seeing the 33% humidity freaked me out as I am used to the needs of a BP. : )

Should be fine. If you get a bad shed or something, you can always add a humid hide.
