Feeding FT on cypress

Do you find that lots of cypress sticks to the mouse/rat? Does your ball python eat cypress with every meal? I know you should dry it off and a lot of people put down a paper plate or something, but what about those who don't put anything down? I'd like to switch to cypress but this has me a little concerned.

I just wanted to clarify, the reason why I am asking is because I see tons of threads about feeding on aspen, but none on cypress. The cypress chips are bigger and seem like they would be sturdier/stronger(not sure what word I am looking for here). It seems like if one of those was swallowed it could cause a puncture or something.

i use cypress for my chondro and my adult. the chondro i don't have to worry about because she's not on the ground. my adult ball, i just drop a clean towel down. better safe than sorry cause like you said, cypress is jagged and could become lodged somewhere. its easy just to drop a towel down.

Why don't you just buy a separate tub for soaking/transporting/temporary housing but also use it as a feeding tub? Line the bottom with a paper towel for easy clean up from rodent blood/feces, and feed in there:gj:

i thought about that but i don't like to handle them too much after they eat. i used to feed my female on the carpet but again, i try to keep handling to a min after eating.

I have had very few issues feeding on cypress. Issues can happen with anything too, I once read where a snake ate the paper towel it was on....LOL

I really don't want to put a towel down or put them in a different container. Too time consuming once you have a lot of snakes.

then your best bet....if you have alot of snakes...is keeping them on newspaper.

Yeah but the problem with newspaper, is once they're over 1000 grams, they pee and they're practically swimming in it in their tub (exagerrating). Maybe I just like to complain?
