    F/t vbs assist feeding
It took me forever to get my BP to switch to f/t. Had it not started I would have been forced to go back to live or assist feed.

I know assist feeding can stress the snake, and I was bitten by a retic as kid when I had to do so.

Question: If your BP was at the point it had to eat, what would you chose?

I just want clarification on what you are asking. You have a snake that will readily eat live, but refuses prekilled or f/t? Or does this snake not readily accept any prey? Have you tried both rat and mice?

Why would you starve your snake if it will readily take live?

Force-feeding or assist feeding should only be considered as a last resort when everything else has failed (this includes live feeding)

Considering force-feeding because an animal does not take F/T does not make sense and put the animal at risk. :colbert:

You should feed what works for your snake first and foremost, what is convenient for you is only secondary.

Owning a snake mean you should be prepared to feed live.

I f/t. My snake is fine. I saw another thread that made wonder what other's opinion would be. I appreciate the feedback, and agree with what all have said. When I was a kid Live feeding was the only way it was done, so I do not have a problem either way.

Agree. I would not starve any animal, especially my favorite.

I feed live and have never had a problem. I'm not too concerned about parasites or anything because of where I get my rats.

Feeding f/t could definately be more convenient cuz u don't have to go to the store to pick up a rat every week or 2.

I think I do live just because its a bit more natural. A snake is going to kill a rat and eat it. it just kinda makes sense. animals hunt their food, the fact that I am stocking his hunting grounds doesn't take away all the merit of the hunt (just some of it).

sorry that just makes no sense to me. you should only force feed if your snake absolutely wont take anything and it's in the stages of starvation.
