    Prey Size for Corns
I'm fostering a stray corn which my nephew will be officially adopting in a few weeks. My sister brought some frozen pinkies over tonight to offer him. Apparently he was starving because he swallowed all three of them, one big gulp at a time! They were tiny, so we want to offer him something bigger next time. I've never had a corn (have two BPs) and was wondering what size y'all feed.

He/She is 2-1/2 to 3 feet long but not very thick, probably about middle finger size. Should we go with a fuzzy or a hopper or even a small adult? He swallowed those little pinkies with very little effort and they left absolutely no trace of a bulge. Surely he can take something bigger.

I would try a small adult mouse, possibly 2.

Isn't the feeding rule for corns the same as for BPs? (size prey equal to the widest part of the snake)
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I kind of figured it was. The pinkies were picked up by my sister and brought to me. I honestly had no idea how tiny they were. He ate them like M&Ms...so I had a feeling that's what y'all would say.

    Thanks!

Yes, but they have a little more lenience. They can be fed a bit more than that.

Try a small adult mouse or weanling if you have one. If he'll take a 2nd, go for it. :]

Corns and colubrids in general have a much faster metabolism then boids so they can handle more food, doesnt mean they should be fed as much as then can eat but they can be fed a little more than ball pythons.

The rule I've always gone by with corns and colubrids is 1.5 times the girth. Doesn't mean I always feed that size but they can handle it and it should be at least one times the size of the girth. A pinky for a snake that size is way too small, should be on at least one lg mouse by that size. Maybe 2.
