My First Feed

well i went to feed my baby ball for the first time last night. i wasnt sure if she was going to take it or not but i wanted to try. i a live fuzzy in a container and poked holes in it then put the container next to the tank and let it sit for 30 min.. came back and my snake was out and about in her tank. i flicked the little fuzzy in the head to knock him out them dropped it in the tank.. my bp went over to it, smelled it then went in her hide? i waa expecting her to devour the little mouse but she didnt.. so i left the fuzzy in the tank and went to eat dinner.. came back about 2 hrs later and the fuzzy was gone =]..

im lucky and happy she ate on the first try.. hopefully we wont encounter any problems..

my question is for the next feed should i knock out the fuzzy? leave it alive and see if my bp actually strikes at it.. would a little fuzzy be harm full to a bp?

A fuzzy ANYTHING is not harmful and I'm wondering why on earth you 'flicked' it? :O

Next time, you do not need to harm the fuzzy in any way-- your snake knows what to do...

so now i know next time just scent the room then drop the fuzzy in there?

:confused: Forgive me here, but I don't think there was anything wrong with pre killing or stunning the fuzzy mouse. Although, not really needed on something that small, I hardly see how protecting your snakes from rodent bites is bad. If the snake ate it, then good for them, it will make it easier in the future when that snake is eating larger rats with bigger teeth. And if the snake will take it, I don't see a reason to go back to live. Aside from that, when done properly, pre killing IMO is a much quicker then being squeezed to death. You can't tell me a sqeaking mouse is not suffering..? In the wild, snakes will eat an already dead rodent.

Not going to get into an argument with you over stunning. Just sticking to the topic, fuzzies don't need to be stunned ;)
