model car in vivarium

i was thinking of using an old 1/24 scale escalade diecast model car as a hide in my tank. i got the doors on and the front windows popped off. i can get it sandblasted at work and clean it wiht alcohol. is there any problems wiht having this as a hide

what are you going to use the hide for?

it just seems like a lot of work just to make a model car a hide....but i dont see anything wrong with it as long as he or she doesnt eat the paint on it or something.

For some people, having a nice looking setup is worth the work. ;)

If you're using it for a snake, I could see a possibility of the snake going in, and you not being able to get it out when you want it out. I used a raccoon skull as a hide for a garter snake I caught as a kid one time, and I thought it got out of the tank because I couldn't find it anywhere. It had crawled into the brain cavity of the skull and there was no way to get it out other than to wait. So you may want to cut the bottom out of the model.

Number two would be rusting. You said it was die cast, and you were going to sandblast it. If you're sandblasting it to take all the paint off, chances are it's going to start to rust. Rust is no good, you'd probably be better off either leaving the paint on or painting it again with a non-toxic paint after you sandblast it.
