How many rats in tub?

How many breeder size rats would fit in tubs that measure 27.5" x 19.75" x 6"?
And lets say i have 1 male per 3 females, when the females are pregnant should i leave them together or should i take out the male and leave all the females together?

I do 1.2 to a tub most of the time but if I'm crammed for room I will do 1.3. I will leave the pregnant moms together until they are ready to pop and then they go into a tub all alone. Other has had success keeping moms and litter together but that's not been the case with my rats. I date all my tubs on cleaning day so I know when to expect a litter.

I can keep up to 3 females in that size tub. I also separate my mothers, my girls always nurse alone and do not like any intrusions.

ok. But do you think 1.2 would fit good in the tub size i wrote down?

I am really bad with measurements. Is it 27.5 length by 19.75 wide and 6 from top to bottom? If so then yes that would be fine. I use the large rat tubs from Big Apple. I'll look to see if I can find the measurements

Here are the measurement for the tubs I use:

21 3/4 x 15 3/8 x 7 7/8

Yea mine are slightly bigger.

I am still new at breeding, my first females was alone, but I have 2 more females that I am going to attempt at leaving together. I will let you know what happens!

I do 1.3 in those tubs. I leave the males in all the time. I have only had one male that killed the babies but he ended up in the belly of a boa.

right know i have 1.3 and this is the first time im going to leave the moms in the tub and take the male out. hope it works
