    After I purchase a UTH
So correct me if I am wrong. I bought a UTH online a yesterday and it is my understanding, or misunderstanding, that after I install it, I can get rid of my heat lamps? Should I look into a ceramic as well or would that microwave my ball?

You should never have to guess at the temperature in your balls enclosure. A proper thermostat is a necessity.

A UTH is better than a lamp as far as keeping the humidity at a reasonable level. What are you using to measure temperatures now?

I am using an acu-rite to measure humidity and temperature right now. I'm keeping everything as perscripted by my local reptile store.

Well this is seriously the ONLY one in my area and they have a few locations. It's called Scales N Tails. I purchased my ball from craigslist and the owner was so ignorant it was disgusting, no humidity monitoring, one single heat lamp source she just turned off at bed time, too big of a hide, dirty water etc. From their advice and the advice I found here, my ball has been happy, hiding, and eating amazingly.

Do you have a thermostat to run and control the heat of the UTH? You need one!

That was going to be my next question...I saw some at petsmart today, but they said they were for CHE regulation only, which I thought was very wierd, but once I get off the computer I'm going grocery shopping and I will pick one up at Wal-Mart, I'm sure i've seen them there before.
