    Rescue Going to the Vet
We are taking the rescue ball python to the vet tomorrow at 2:30. Most likely the vet will find belly rot and an RI. What can I expect as far as treatments and medication? I've never had a snake with an RI before.

RI's involve giving daily shots and I think scale rot is treated with a topical ointment. The vet will teach you how to give the shots so they can be given at home.
My post was based upon what I've read from other people's threads so there may be other types of treatments I've missed!

Well the little rescue gets .16cc of Baytil a day. That was the first time I've ever given a snake meds, and the first time I've ever had to give a snake meds by mouth. Very interesting. She also in shed.

Snakes can be given oral medication just fine.

That is true but I find it harder and more stressful on the snake because 1. you need to shove a tube do it's throat. 2. you need to get that tube do to the snakes stomach (or the meds will just come out of it's nose or mouth) 3. hold the snake still thru set 1 & 2.

Injections are the easiest way to go IMHO.

    Good luck!
