Are all WHITE ferrets Albino?

I don't know, but I dont think so. Just like BEW (black eyed white) rats- their all white, but not albino.. I actualy think I've seen an all white ferreet with black eyes- so no, don't think so. Of course, someone that really knows will hopfully answer soon lol :)

Maybe they're PEW (Pink Eyed Whites) like rats...not true albinos? I don't know!

There are black eyed whites as well. Of course, our friend had an "albino" ferret that started off all white (he has blueish eyes) and now he's turning colors after a year. It is kind of neat to watch. I don't know much about ferret genetics as I'm just starting to learn (I have 3 ferrets).

Well, I have fancy mice that are brown and white with red eyes, and all white mice with black eyes, so who knows!

So, there is both, thats what I am understanding???

Hmm.. I also heard that all white faced ferrets are deaf (or maybe it was blind), but I'm not really buying into that one. just curious if it's true or not, lol.

That reasoning is because the white spotting gene for many animals is present when deafness is also present. The path the pigment cells take is often along the same route as crucial cells that enervate regions of the body. If the pigment cells are stopped for whatever reason, it's usually safe to assume that the important cells for other functions are also stopped.

That's why many dalmations and other white spotted dogs and cats are deaf. :)

There are also Black eyed Whites (not albinos); and a cream colored variation with red eyes (which may be an albino variant).
