Re: how much is it worth??
So if I understand you correctly; you already decided to buy it?
In that case, congrats!
If this woman really needs the money and she is a neighbour of your parents, I think you should take a look at the kingsnake classifieds what people are asking for albino burms (I guess it's around $125) and give her a little more.
For a burm this size I would give her $200.
Is this going to be your first burm?
Re: how much is it worth??
yeah i think im goin to :D. and yeah i looked at king snake, but couldnt really find any about the same size that were albino.
but 150-200 is what i was thinking as well.
and yes it will be my first burm, but ive been around my cousins two since i was about 12. one recently died just of age actually :/.
Re: how much is it worth??
I am constantly clicking that 'Thanks' button by accident...
A 6' albino burm. Hmm. Sex is a variant when you're asking price as always, especially with burms. To some people it would depend on what it is eating, age would also be a factor.
But without all that info I would say about $200+
Re: how much is it worth??
alright, thanks for the info guys :gj:
Re: how much is it worth??
Sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't think its a burm, or maybe you mean 6 yards. Even a male burm would be at minimum of 10 to 12 feet at a couple of years old.
It sounds like this snake is either not a burm, or severely malnourished. There is a slim, very very slim possibility that you may have a dwarf burm, but I dont think there is any dwarf albino burms out there, especially one that is several years old.
Post a pic, even if it is a cell phone pic.
Re: how much is it worth??
I was thinking the same thing...son moved away a few years ago, but the snake is only 6' ?
Sure, it could have been underfed, but why would an underfed Burm be calm enough to be carried around the house by a 60-year-old woman? Mine start getting rowdy 4-5 days after their last meal.
Maybe something's not right here...
Re: how much is it worth??
Any chance you could post a picture of the snake? =)
I agree, 200ish dollars sounds fair for a healthy sub-adult albino burm, more if you want to be generous and if there's a nice cage available.
Burmese grow pretty darn fast, and even a male would surely be longer than 6' in a few years, hence why it doesn't quite sound right. My guy was 9' at age 4 when we acquired him and he was not underfed, but he pretty lean.
Perhaps the snake is a bit longer? =)
Re: how much is it worth??
I beg all of you who doubt that this is a burm to listen to the reptile radio show with Eugene Bessette. He mentions making bonsai burms.
On the other hand, I bet this burm is a little bigger than 6 feet long.
Also, what other albino boid is affordable to your average Joe?
Re: how much is it worth??
I forgot to mention a large snake with a great disposition is worth something.
If I wanted a male burm I would pay anywhere from 150 to 200.
