    Pairing Question // Opinion
Let say you had 3 Het for Pied females, spider het pied male, and a pied male. Would you run both males through all the females or focus on specific pairings?

    Thanks for your opinion.

well its really just depends on what your really trying to get. but then again this is my first season. i think it would be cool to run them both through and see who got to who :P

if you use the spider het pied your babies will be 66% hets and if you use the pied male you will have 100% hets. if you use both you will have to consider all babies 66% hets. If you want guaranteed 100% hets go with the pied if not go with both

Give the Pied to one female and the spider pied to the other 2, or vice versa.

I like the idea of a spider pied more, which is why I say to give him to 2 of the females. But don't start mixing them like that, that just sounds goofy, pair with single males so that you know who the father is and there is no "well it could have been." Knowing the exact parents is a lot better for your records than mixing.

Thank you for your opinions. But if the spider het pied produced a clutch wouldn't there be a spider in the clutch therefor no doubt who the father is? I could tell who the father is based on the babies in the clutch correct? Someone please let me know if i am looking at this wrong. Sorry it took me son long to post again.

Both males can father the clutch. If you care about being able to 100% represent your hets then I would not mix them.

Personally, I would not run both males through, because you would not know if the normal looking offspring was possible het or het. If you only ran the pied male through, then you would have definite hets, which would sell for more. If you ran both, then you would have to sell all as possible hets, because you would not know which one fathered each egg.

well if you want to shoot for spider-piebalds then go with the spider het pied. if you care about representing your offspring as 100% het then do what everyone else said. you can even pair one male with one female and the other male with two females and still know what to label your hatchlings. or pair one male with one female, the other male with the second female and then both males with the third female. did i miss any combos?

You could produce NO spiders and the spider still be the father. I had a clutch this year of pastel to normal - and all the babies were normals. Not a single pastel.

He only sired 2 pastels in the other clutch last year.

Two fathers can sire the same clutch.

but if you run the spider het pied... then you have a chance at spider pied and more spider het pied. so what bout the hets. i would run both! cuz then you have a better chance for more pied as well as a chance for spiders and spider pieds. so what if your hets will only be 66% remember this aint about the money its about the cool bps you could make :D
