Anyone live in the SF bay area of CA and know how to sex?
And not in the way Borat means it ;)

My reptile vet charges like $100 for a sex. I know. Insanity. And while I am committed to sparing no expense for the care of my pets, I can't justify that right now with money being so tight. Rather than attempt a popping myself (bad idea) I thought I'd see if anyone lives near me and can sex my normal BP. I'll take you out to pizza or something to say thanks. The BEST pizza in SF in two blocks from me.

Also, my snake doesn't seem to be a regular BP. Not in color or anything, but in behavior and temperament. He likes to climb his tree and will spend all day wedged in between the lid of his cage and the branch. He's never struck at anyone, even during a shed cycle, and never refuses food. He also doesn't ball up when I take him out. He's kindof curious and always wants to check everything out. Not shy at all. He's like perfect Stepford snake. It's freakin me out.

And ONE last thing. I'm feeding him small rats right now, which are nowhere near his max girth. Should I really move him up to larger rats? I'm worried they won't fit in his mouth.

I've had him about a year, but only recently found this site. I must say, I have found a new favorite :)

OH, and how do I post a picture?

Sorry for all the questions, I've had so many questions stored up that I haven't been able to ask anyone until now!

    xoxo,
    Hale

if its not all that small i dont think you will hurt him. unless you just role your thumb unnecessarily hard.. i had never attempted it before, because i didnt want to hurt my snakes either, but a few months ago a guy at a show showed me how and i did it my first time no problem.

i also think there are some tutorial vid on youtube showing you how to do it.

Dang! Twin Cities Reptiles(in St Paul MN) charges $10 to probe snakes(have to set up an appointment of course). I'd trust them with my snake too, they're wonderful there.

Any exotics stores in the area offer a sexing service?

    Depends who's working there.

I watched them turn a guy away last week because he wasn't buying anything.

I'm in the Bay Area - my vet will sex your snake and give her a full physical exam for under $50.

I did it myself!! My snake is about 3 feet and pretty fat (don't have a scale delicate enough to weigh him) I decided to go for it.

ITS A HE!! It smelled kindof bad when I did it...
