beardie eye problem

hey guys i have a little beardie who's left eye seems to be injured. I had him together with two other beardies which were a tiny bit bigger than him and use to abuse him. They wouldn't let him eat and they would sit on top of him when he was basking. I had them together for a bout a week and i separated the little guy because i started to notice the other two abusing him a lot. And today i noticed his eye injury it was closed with like this hardened mucus thing so I sprayed him a little bit with water to soften the hardened mucus and i noticed him trying to like open his eye so i helped him out by using a wet piece of cotton an rubbing his eye gently with it until his eye opened. Now he's sitting in his cage basking but his eyes are closed, i think its from the pain. What should i do for his eye?:(

Alright, first, get all of your Beardies seperated. Second, can you tell us a few things,

1. What substrate are they on?
2. What type of uvb bulb are you useing? ( Is it a compact twirly bulb?)

These two things are the most likely suspects as to why. If a cagemate had attacked him id think there would be alot more damage to him. Keep him on paper towels and id personally get him checked by a vet.

I have them on newspaper, i separated them already, and as for the uv bulb im getting a new one because the old one i had broke and it was a twirly one. Which uv bulb is the best one for beardies? Oh and i think his eye got stabbed by one of the other beardies nails because they use to lay on top of him while basking.

The eye problem easily could have been from the compact bulb. They have been known to cause those kinds of problems with eyes. Your best bet is to get a MVB bulb, lllreptile sells T rex ones ( they look like flood lamps) and id get that one, or go to reptileuv.com and get one of theirs.

Here is what I use for a uv light. For an eye infection I soak them in the tub with warm water. Then I put neosporin on it twice daily until it heals.

shouldn't you put a antibacterial on it, like bactine? and then some neo.

Neospotin is an antibacterial and I screwed up the UVB light link.

Does this light give out heat also? What i mean is if i use this light do i have to put a heat lamp to?

UVB lights do not give heat. yes you need a heat lamp also.
