    Albino??
So.. Out of a couple of my trios. I seem to have a few babies.. two females from one trio and a male from another.. All the rest seem to be normal.. although the females have some very light tan and white the male seems to be mostly white.. all have red eyes.
So.. What do you all think?

Yup, you got an albino! Im not sure if there are caramels or not but it could be that as well. Im trying to get a few trios set up of albinos myself, im just waiting for them to grow up. As much as I like albinos, im not really sure if I like albino asfs yet, they are sort of creepy. I guess im a fan of the tan normal phase asf with the blue under coat.

Don't think anybody really knows the answer to your question at this point. I have some of the same thing. The educated guess at this point is that they are NOT albinos, but instead they are Pink Eye Dilluted. Following the rules for normal rats, the only thing considered "Albino" is an all white with red eyes... Yours, just like mine, are obviously a very light tan, and not white.

Connie should be chiming in any time now... :gj:

I was thinking pink eyed dilutes as well. but wasnt sure. First time I had any of these come out of my pairings. I am going to hold them back since the females are from one litter. and the male from another see what happens. Thought I may throw in a normal looking one to the mix as well, just to see.
I have one that looks to be all white, maybe a cream, hard to tell really. I couldnt get a picture because the little girl wouldnt sit still..

So ASF Fawns are more light-tan creamish colored unlike fawn rats (there more of an orange color)...?

I'm now just getting into these little dudes >.< there so cool

When ASF's are grown, they are very clearly orange/yellow. I don't even see how one could think they looked just tan or beige unless the animal was very high white.

I try to include both dilutes (PED and RED) when labeling the fawn colored ASF's.

Fawn Domestic Rats have very dark ruby/brown, almost black, colored eyes, whereas Amber domestic rats have the very light pink eyes.

So, it would be better for me to call the "Fawn" ASF's "Amber" to follow closely to the fancy rat names.

I also suspect that the cinnamon ASF's are actually RED because in certain lights it appears their eyes are dark ruby or brown and not a truly black color.

Once I get around to studying them closer, I will have my answer.

I got 3 or 4 with red eyes this time. They don't look white but like you said a fawn color. I am going to let them live and raise them up and see what they produce. Has anyone had a trio of red eyes and what did they produce?
