enclosure help

I have a friend who keeps 3 male ball pythons. i told him not to but he wont listen. can i get some confirmation if im right or not?

If you are saying your friend is keeping three male ball pythons in ONE enclosure, that's bad. Tell your friend to do some research on the benefits of housing together vs the risks of housing together.

The short version:

Benefits: NONE

Risks: A LOT

Not worth it IMO.

Three together?

I knew this guy who kept 4 ball pythons in a 20 tall, I told him not to and that they needed more space. Well he didn't clean it out often enough and they ended up dying of respiratory problems. I've also heard of balls eating eachother, but that was just hearsay.

It' always recommended to keep them individually, they are not mice, they are not cats, snakes are loners, they only really meet up for breeding season.

YIKES!! Tell him to seperate them!! If he doesn't have the money he shouldn't have the snakes. Keeping ball pythons together is soooo not good for them. They could fight or worse eat each other ( I've seen some horrible pictures) he needs to come to BP.net and he needs to listen up. there is no excuse for something like this. Its CRUEL!:mad:

I'm not sure what good confirmation from people that he does not know is going to do, If he won't listen to you. Like stated before have him do some research on the internet. But just in case it helps, Tell him I said it is not a good practice and could be bad for the health of the snakes. :gj:

When they are in their enclosure together, they're not curled up together because they [I]like[I] eachother. They're dominating eachother. They're all probably very stressed out. If separated, they'd likely be much healthier and grow faster.

Not to mention, if one of them is sick, they all get sick. That's triple vet bills!

BTW- how does he know they're all male? Has he confirmed it? Or is he just guessing? If one of them is a female by chance, what would happen if they bred? What if the female wasn't ready for it and became eggbound? Or if she layed the eggs, would he be prepared to take care of them? And the hatchlings that would soon follow?
