    Sad day.
Well I knew it was coming and it was both a heart breaking parting and a relief as well. The first female rat that I bought as a breeder, but has been a pet and foster momma for the last 2 years of her life, has passed away. She was almost 3 years old. Not bad especially since she came from petco. She was such a spaz when I first got her, but she ended up being my absolute favorite. Her name was Momma. She had started developing a tumor in the last couple months, but it never seemed to bother her so I kept her around. I just couldn't part with her, although I guess I would have if she looked like she was suffering.

It seems so silly to be crying over her, but she was just the BEST. I'll miss her every day, but I do have one of her babies who is just like her. I think I may keep one of her grandbabies to raise up. Anyway, I just had to give her a small tribute as thanks for her being in my life. :tears:

I'm sorry for your loss. :(

I remember my first pet rat, I had her three years then she passed away in her sleep I guess. I was so sad, Socks was like a miniature dog, I would even let her have free roam in my room and she'd come and sit by me on my bed while I read. It's not silly at all to cry for your rattie, no more silly than it was for me to cry over mine.

dont know how I missed this thread yesterday, but I'm so sorry for your loss Christie. those little furry faces have a way of sneaking into your hearts. She knew she was loved and you gave her the best life possible.

I'm very sorry. I had 3 pet rats, & 2 pet mice & I had them in condos, took them to the vet, etc. I was very attached. Unfortunately these little guys have short lives. But you did give her a great home & life.

I'm really sorry for your rattie!! She will live on in your memories and I know that she had a great life with you. You truely loved her and in the end thats the best gift you could have ever given her. Try to feel better ok? Her suffering is over now but in my heart I know she was hardly suffering if she had someone as caring as you taking care of her.
