    Looking for feedback
Mods please relocate this thread if I have chosen the wrong forum. I have so far refrained from thanking any member for a making given post ever since the option to do so has been there because I can imagine this function ending up having the unintended result of the formation of opposing cliques. So far a substantial portion of the "thanks" has been given to posters that are giving an opinion on a contested topic. If somebody doesn't like the post or the poster or the people doing the thanking, they may harbor a grievance toward the whole group. I haven't wanted to stigmatize anyone by adding my name to their post. I'm sure that this feature will remain on the site, I just wanted to get some input from the other members. I'm sure that most people would say that I am either being silly or overly cautious, but in my short time participating in online forums I believe that I have noticed certain trends of behavior. What is your opinion?

    Absolutely correct.

Kinda funny too to see the lines being drawn, I'm on his side and you're not so you must be against me kinda things.

I guess a contested post or thread is always prone to this possibility, but most of the threads and posts are not really of that nature.

I think it depends on the topic in question and which threads you spend your attention on as to how often this becomes a possibility.

Like reputations you dont have to use this feature if you feel it maybe miscontrued.

I actually havent used it alot but if I feel someone was informative or shed some light on a situation I may give them a thanks for sharing.

screw "cliques" ... they're garbage ... I say be your own person ... if you like a post, or learn something for a post, or if a post just makes you smile ... give it a :gj: "Thanks" ... If someone has a problem with that, tell em to "clique this". ;)

oh, and BTW ... I'm in a "clique" ... I'm in the me, myself, and I "clique" ... and my "clique" can kick it's own butt!

    Just my worthless $.02

I agree, sometimes it's used as nothing more then a form of recognition without actually posting. If you like it and wanna hit the thanks, hit it, if someone has a problem with people doing that..... well that's their problem! :)

Well I guess that when this feature suddenly appeared the concept puzzled me a bit and I have been over thinking the situation.

Sorry I just had to do it

I didn't think about the "thanking" business in that way at all, but I see what you're saying. I have been using it mostly for when people gave me advice. I'm new to BPs and it's nice when you get a post that actually helps you. I've noticed some posts are their way or the highway

I was also wondering, do we get some sort of prize for having a bunch of "thanks" JK
