Do any of you guys keep more than one girl in the same breeder tub and if so how many is too many? I use mortar tubs in my rack and I have two girls in each tub with their newborns.

What's up Dwayne....I use the same tubs and have kept as many as 3 mamas and litters with no problems. They really seem to share and help each other out.
BTW..tried to call you back last week and could not get through.

I don't keep them together because I've had the mothers fight over the babies and usually it's the baby that loses. I've found them with missing tails, limbs or just a big rip in their torso. It's not pretty.

Others have posted that they've had absolutely no problems so I guess it would be worth a try!

BTW, I've also had males kill entire litters so if you have the male in there you need to watch him if he's a first time father. All my males have to prove that they are good fathers or I won't keep them.

You've got a beautiful litter. I especially like the brown one in the middle. I've never had a brown rat.

I hope you have total success!

I always keep my girls in separate containers when birthing and raising pups. I'm always afraid they'll fight...or the babys will get mixed up...
