heat lamps dont last long?
the 3rd heat lamp just burnt out and its tickin me off. 3 lamps in 10-11 months doesnt seem right to me?
how long are they suppose to last?
Re: heat lamps dont last long?
I dont know how long they are supposed to last but have you tried a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) Those last a long time
Re: heat lamps dont last long?
think there only rated for 1000hrs they dont last long at all i keep xtras on hand but the CHE are supposed to last 5 years or better hence they cost 3 times as much
Re: heat lamps dont last long?
Mine crapped out within 2 months. I have no idea how long they are supposed to last but maybe you could try out a UTH? I never replaced the bulb and just went with a Uth for my glass tank which has been retired since I picked up a rack from RBI. I was having heat and humidity problems with the lamp and glass tank anyway.
Re: heat lamps dont last long?
I always get over 1 year on mine going 24/7.Its a 100 watt on a dimmer usually running at half power
Re: heat lamps dont last long?
Put in a surge protector, maybe it's your house current that's uneven and is causing them to go out so quickly.

WWP is right. That's exactly what was happening to me. They would go out after about 3.5 to 5 weeks and after I had the electric company do some testing we found out it was an issue with the current inside the house due to wiring.
Re: heat lamps dont last long?
i have a UTH on the hide side of her tank and the heat lamp on the opposite side with her water giving a 30 degree temp in her tank and a constant 60% humidity. is this ok like this or shall i make some changes?
all the wiring in my house is new so i dont think that would be it. but i guess its a possibility. ill ask my electrician buddy to come check it out.
id use a ceramic heater but i like having the red night light in our bedroom;)
Re: heat lamps dont last long?
Like somebody mentioned above, try a ceramic heat lamp. That is what I use for my tort's, and they last for years.
