What to do???

So several months ago my daughters opal corn snake (very small) escaped from its cage and was gone. We searched high and low for it, laid out food and heat for it, but have not seen it in a very long time. Over the last month or so it has started to get cold at night and the house has been in the high 60's.
Well today I opened the door to let the dog in and see what looks like a shoe lace lying across the threshold, half in the snow and half in the door. It was trying to come out of the cold into the house.
Now I have no idea where the heck this snake has been and I am relatively sure it hasnt eaten in the months that it was MIA. It had some black stuff that looked like dirt on its low jaw and was obviously dehydrated and had lost weight.

So I picked it up and put it into a sterlite container with a hide and a bowl of water. Ive been working to keep the container temp in the mid 80's. For the first hour or so it was fairly lethargic and didnt do much. After that though it was starting to look normal (albiet thinner) again and the black stuff (again I think it was dirt) was gone. So I fed it a f/t pinky (thats what it ate before it escaped) and it was gone within minutes. Its actually looking like it is doing fairly well.

Any suggestions?
We are going to take it to the vet tomorrow.

Just keep on doing what you're doing. I'm sure she will be fine. Just get her nice and warm and slowly get her feeding again. If she is thin, you want to get weight back on her, but you also don't want to gorge her.

My very first corn escaped for 6 months not long after I had gotten him as a hatchling. He was my first snake (and only snake at the time) and I was really bummed. Then one day I saw him crawl across the living room. He was a little thin, but recovered just fine. No doubt yours will too.

I think you're doing great right now, as previously posted, just keep the corn warm and in a dark spot (maybe put a towel over the container) so that he's not stressed.

He ate 3 mouse pinkies last night and acted like he wanted more, what a pig

He has always been VERY nippy to the point of even striking the side of the cage as people walk by. Well last night I let the pinkies thaw in the room where he is currently in q/t. He has been staying in the hide pretty much no stop, but not last night. I popped the lid off the sterlite box and he was reared up and trying to strike at me several feet away. Typically he will wait for a few minutes of peace and quiet before going after the pinky, not last night. He was on the pinkie before the lid was back on.
I think he was hungry.

Don't over feed him!
Give him one mouse pinky a week. If he's hatchling small you could shock his system by giving him too much food at one time.

Just because they are looking for more doesn't mean that they should have it!
