she didnt eat for the last 2 weeks! turns out she likes freshly killed prey.. :)

Becareful when you feed on substrate like yours.

if too much of it gets inside of your snake it will cause impaction and which leads to death so feed in a seperate area or change your substrate to newspaper.

i know.. im just getting the baby on a regular feeding schedule then feeding it outside the enclosure..

excellent good to see the little blood eating keep up the good work.

I would advise newspaper as well especially when they get bigger.

It's amazing that any of these snakes lived long enough in the wild for us to keep them in captivity. :rolleyes:

I keep all my snakes on cypress, and they all feed on the cypress. The balls eat live, the short tails and boas eat pre-killed or frozen/thawed. You'd be surprised at how talented they are when it comes to removing substrate from their mouths.

The main reason I can see for using newspaper/kraft paper on the bigger species is because it's more cost effective. It gets pretty expensive filling a 2' x 4' area with new cypress every month or so. Although in my opinion, the benefits out weigh the cost. It's just a pain to keep the humidity up when you're using paper for the substrate. Plus cypress just looks so much nicer! :gj:

Oh ok I was just being more safe than sorry lol. but if a certain way is working for you and the OP then Ok keep doing it that way. plus if you want to use newspaper and keep the humidity up you just have to use a rubbermaid bin they work really well if you can find the right size. I found some at my local dollar store that were 106 Quarts for 13 dollars. these sterlite tubs work well i keep some of my boas in them. without issue and they hold heat/humidity great.
