    Fogger for a BP?
Ok this may be completely retarded but....

    My humidity is about 30%

Don't worry its a new cage and the snake has not arrived so I have time to experiment with new things.

I am having a humidity problem. I have tried misting, but the humidity just jumps up and drops down with in a couple of hours. I don't want to over spray it for fear bacteria will grow.

I thought about putting in sphagnum moss but I just like to make things difficult. When I was looking for a t-stat I saw an automated fogger system. What do you guys think. I know it wont be cheep but if it keeps my humidity at the level I want then why not try it.

Has any one tried this. or is it such a stupid idea that anyone with half a brain cell would not even try it.

I can not see a reason why a fogger would not work. I mean one of the high end ones with the sensor and automated and such so that my humidity wont get to high.

I was also thinking about putting a humidifier in the room but the fogger seemed like the more adventurous route.

I think a fogger system would work fine--you'll just need to play with it a bit to adjust it, to get the humidity to stay around 60 to 70% without creating a lot of condensation. Remember that they are strong snakes, so however you set it up, make sure the snake cannot tip it, pry it, or shove it around the cage.

    I wouldn't bother with it.

Foggers for ball pythons are not necessary in my opinion ... a humid hide works even better and provides security for your snake as well. :sweeet:

It' pretty easy to maintain 60% to 70% humidity and even higher in a room with quite low ambient humidity. Racks are tougher than tanks, but a plexiglass cover (with about thirty 3/8" holes drilled on the warm side and about half as many on the cool side) placed on a tank, with a small water bowl in the middle, gives me about 65% in a room with an ambient humidity of about 40% to 50%.

I wouldn't I had one for a lizard and it was REALLY wet.

Why don't you get a humidifier? They are around $20 and you can keep the room the snakes are in at a higher humidity.

Buy live plants, don't use a heat lamp and cover the hot side of the tank. With a once a day misting of the plants it keeps it perfect!

Humid hide is the way to go! I have one for each of my guys & their sheds are lovely. I use tupperware containers with damp sphagmum moss (Fluker's I find is the best).
