Hm can someone help me peice it together
Ok, so I'm a new initiate to the world of ball breeding. I love these animals and have always been infatuated with the morphs so now i have the time and the money to dedicate to this. Our first season is coming up and we have two snakes, a male pastel, well over 500g, and a female normal about 1580g. So as far as size from what i can tell they are both good, now I've read countless threads and posts and websites on how to breed and each gives me a piece of the puzzle except each piece i get is from a different puzzle. I just don't know how this is going to work. So far i know you put them together in the November-January time you shorten their light cycles, and their feeding changes. But aside from that little else has clicked for me, i do understand the genetics mostly, and i feel embarrassed because I'm a biology major and can't figure this out, but who better to ask than the seasoned pro's lol. Please someone help me so that this season can go as easily as possible.:tears::please:
Re: Hm can someone help me peice it together
The thing to remember is that each snake is an individual and what works to get one pair started may not work on another. Changing light cycles and lowering temps works for some and for others is totally infective.
Start with the basics if you want to cool fine lessen the light cycle, pair them up at night and leave them for a few days see if they lock, Try this for a couple of weeks even a month or two. It take some a while to get the picture.
If nothing is happening start changing things little by little, when you pair them, who's tub they go in, misting them all these things are things to try.
Start slow theres more than enough time to tweak. People still have clutches being laid and hatching so theres really no rush.
Take it slow, Take Notes and learn and enjoy.

Check out ballpython.ca. They have a great breeding recipe on their site.
