How far apart do you melt your ventilation holes?
My racks been working for me for a good long time, but recently I've started to have humidity problems. The tubs I use are sterilite 27qt's. I have a line of vent holes all the way around, spaced 1 inch apart, and about 1 inch down from the top. Everytime a snake poops, or knocks a water bowl, the tub fogs right up. I'm thinking I am going to need to put a hole in between each of the already existing holes so they are only 1/2" apart, but then I'm worried about humidity being too low.
In short - I'm just wondering what you guys that use a similar sized tub do in terms of vent holes.

I think it's going to be different for everyone depending on their humidity in the room, choice of bedding, water bowl size, temperature, etc etc. IMO if the tub only fogs up when a snake defacates or makes a mess with water I'd leave it alone and I'd always know which tub needs to be cleaned... :P I do think it is kind of odd though if all the sudden you are having this problem when you didn't have it for a long time before.

Why not just use smaller bowls?

Because they will tip them easier.

I have the same problem with my new girl. No matter what, it is her job in life to imediatly knock over the water when she sees that I have replaced it - After having a sip, of course. XD
My suggestion would to either leave it, or to slowly add more holes to the tub. Maybe start where it is more aesthetically pleasing. With my girlfriends spider, I put four holes on the lid and it solved the problem.
Also, if you don't like melting the holes, I use an exact-o type blade and it works great. It takes a bit of practice to get them nice looking, if the blade is dull (like mine is). Just apply pressure and spin.
Hope that helps slightly.
