Aaahhh Sniper Your A Dork!!!
<RANT>
Sniper (spider ball) Escapes from his cage, and where do I find him? under his tub DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE HEAT MAT!!! :mad::rage::frustrate:angered: He got such a bad burn its ridiculous! I got him to the vet today, he got some injectable antibiotics (Amikacin) and a cream called Silver Sulfadiazine.
I am really irritated. But the vet said he should be ok within two shed cycles. And get this, he was in deep blue last night, with the burns and all and still ate! Omg what a trooper. He is really a tough cookie. I am happy that he will be ok. But what a dork, falls asleep directly on top of the heat pad. WTF? I will post pics of his progress soon.

Re: Aaahhh Sniper Your A Dork!!!
how did he lift his tub to get under it? is it a baby? if not it would seem he would have had to knock it over or someone would have seen the tub sitting at a slant or very highly elevated
Re: Aaahhh Sniper Your A Dork!!!
OMG its sucks but its a lil' bit funny.
hope he heals up good =]

To be honest, I have no idea, i just saw that it was tilted sideways, and he was under it on top of the mat. it was early in the morning, too so i know it happened over night.

It's "D'oh", it's in the dictionary. Sorry about your spider, hope he heals nice. However it does seem a little odd that his heat pad was hot enough to cause him burns. I would think that would make it too hot in the tub itself, even with a barrier of plastic between him and the pad. Is it Tstat controlled?
Re: Aaahhh Sniper Your A Dork!!!
no no tstat. its 85 under the actual hide, I put 6 sheets of paper towel on plastic of the tub inside. thats all over the tub, and i haven't seen just how hot it is on the actual pad. I never thought it was necessary. lol as long as i knew it was 85-90 on the warm side, i was good.
Re: Aaahhh Sniper Your A Dork!!!
as alot of articles and post on this site says... never assume you know how hot it is. always check and know exactly. i understand things happen sometimes and i'm not jumpin in your case or condeming you things like this happen to everyone at somepoint we just have to learn from mistakes. i would suggest you invest in one of the point and shoot temperture gauges.
Re: Aaahhh Sniper Your A Dork!!!
totally understand what you are saying. I just never expected him to get out and go on it like that. I mean wouldn't he recognize that he is getting burnt and it hurts!?!? I will probably be buying one soon. Can i connect one t stat to more than one cage? and how?
Oh and i do own a temperature gauge. It says its 85 degrees constantly under the hide. Its a probe. and i have one in all of the tubs for every snake. Two for each. cold and warm side. Including hydrometer for each.

You can as long as all the heating elements are the same wattage. Most tstats have a mini power strip attached to them, if not you can just plug one in, and plug all your heat pads into it.
