    Burm with a rough snout
I saw an albino burm the other day which had a rough snout. No injury just a dull and rough snout no leftover shed either. So I was wondering if their snouth scales are ok to be rough instead of being smooth and shiny like on my ball pythons and boas. In particular I'm reffering to the rostral, internasal, prenasal and postnasal scales. Comments will be greatly appreciated !

In my experience its I have seen this in burms that are in cages that are too small. They tend to try to escape more than others I have experiance with. When I go into the snake room it almost for sure that one of the burms is snoopin around the cage to see if it can get out. Both of the burms I currently have had badly rubbed snouts when i got them. They have healed but they are a little dull because of it. Both times the burms were kept in way too small cages. I hope this helps.

Larger snakes will do this often when they think their enclosure is too small. Some will really mess up their noses. Some will stop this when you get them in a bigger cage. Some will never stop and just continue to do it. It's a sad thing to see.

Well, thank you for the info, it makes sense, however the damage is permanent right?, even if the snake is placed in biger enclosure.
If I acquire this particular snake I'll have it in a vision cage 72x36x18 which will be much bigger than it's current set up which is a 100gal tank. BTW the snake is a 9yr 10ft male burm

Depends how bad it is. In the early it may cease and look normal. If you catch it too late, it may not ever look the same.
