What Dosage of Baytril for RI??

I was wondering what different Vets give dosage wise for RI in ball pythons.?? If anyone could give me some examples that would be great... And Adam if you know what the standard would be I would love to know that also.. I appreciate any help given..

.4cc per 1000 grams is what I have used the last couple of times

It's 5-7 mg/kg. Weigh the snake, calculate the dosage based on the concentration of the Baytril you're using. I use the 100mg/ml, so my dosage is alot smaller than others who use the 22.7mg/ml. My dose for a 1000g snake is generally 0.1ml.

Antibiotics need to be used for a minimum of 3 weeks, preferably longer, so the immune system can fight the infection off completely. As long as the snake is well hydrated, there aren't any problems with doing a month-long treatment.

Shoot me an email and we can talk about what's going on with your animal ... I do things a little differently than what's been posted in the thread and I'm not comfortable sharing my experience with dosages and stuff in an open forum.

But I'd be glad to share what's worked and not worked for me via email so that you and your vet can work together to effectively treat your snake.

What the herp vet prescribes for that animal.

kEY WORD Herp Vet..The one I took my animal to said they were a herp vet.. But lo and behold they knew nothing of taking care of reptiles or the ailments they get.. She didn't even think my snake had a RI and it was gurgling and blowing bubbles.. Her reasoning it didn't look like it was coming from the trachea.. Being that the mucous was already in the mouth.. So don't trust every Herp vet... But that just my opinion.. Bit of course you can blindly follow someones word just because they have a degree.. Some of the dumbest people I know have degrees on their walls...
