are you really ovulating???
Ok the other day I opened my girls tub and was like WOW when did you get so FAT??? It looks for all the world like she is ovulating. The lower 1/3 of her body is like she swallowed a football. I put the male in with her a few times but never saw a lock. NONE of my girls want to eat. One of my girls I sware looks lumpy, but again she was with a male but I never saw a lock..... Both have recovered their weight from laying this year. I am just about to say fine starve for a month and see if you will eat then. Both girls have gone about 2 weeks since last meal. They are not following my plan. I had everything schedualed, cool down, locks, POS, lol everything...... Now tell me to calm down, and just chill. I don't have an incubator up and running, Should I get mine out just in case?

i got a huge female a while back and im thinkin the same thing you are she,s glowing in shed had her belly up for a while but i dont know if the previuos owners paired her or not
my thoughts always been
"better to have and not need than to need and not have"
im building an incubator this weekend lol then least if nothin happens i,ll have it when i get her locked up for next year
Re: are you really ovulating???
I would say definetly get out the old bator. Just because you did not see them don't mean it didn't happen. I am lucky I have my male and female pair locked up for the third time right now. Time to start building a bator for myself if not then Heather may allow me to incubate my stuff in hers. (maybe?) :D:D
Re: are you really ovulating???
We currently have two of our males doing the nasty with some ladies and another male that seems a bit lost with his woman. We have the incubator pretty much set up all I have to do is add the water and hit the switch. Pretty much if we miss it and end up with eggs unexpectantly, the incubator can be up to temp and maintaining in about 2 hours. Mom can take care of them for those two hours. We have a larger incubator that can fit 9 average clutches and it is professionally built. Now I have been looking at its design and I think I may build my own incubator and use it as a back up or primary depending on how nice it turns out. It will be nice to have a second incubator so if the first one takes a dump I can transfer the eggs to the other then figure out what went wrong. I also have 3 thermostats on my incubator. The primary is set to maintain 89 degrees. The low back up with kick on if the temp drops to 88 degrees. Then if the temp climbs over 91 degrees the whole incubator is shut down by the third over temp T-stat.
