Log hides usually dont provide much security for snakes. I'd suggest trying one that is more enclosed with a small opening

Get two of the same size and same style hides. Do you know your temps and humidity?

looks close to what my tank used to be... most people will recommend two identical hides with one on either side of a temperature gradient.

for other advice, info like your temps and humidity would be very useful. you have a very tall tank, which most people don't like because of the high volume of air you have to heat, making it very hard to maintain proper temps and humidity.

I use a dish under my water bows to prevent splashing on the aspen.. that can lead to bacterial messes ..

Good background and surrounding. :) But what is with the curtain rod??? BPs are not like GTPs :D

    Here are my suggestions:
Get new hides that are identical, smaller and have only one opening. It's just better for them to feel the hide touch them all the way around.

The water dish is a bit big. You could get something smaller, like a ceramic food dish for rodents, and be perfectly fine. If you're having trouble with humidity, and haven't foil treated your lid, try a wide, not tall, dish.

I would add some greenery or something that can fill the extra space for more security. :)

My royal is fine in his log hide. I would suggest a ceramic water bowl though coz distruto pythons like to trash everthing when your not looking lol. I'd also add some 3D dimension to the viv, branches and plastic plants coz although not arborial most will enjoy having a go at climbing and then falling out and havng another go :) Also provides extra cover for them.

i put the curtin rod in there justfor something to climb around on.since i put it in there he always gets on it then gets off and then gets on..lol its funny. he actually climbs on it alot. i had two identical hids but i ruined one while i was cleaning and ihad that extra log.im planning on getting a new water bowl and 2 new hides. i'veonly had him for like a 2 weeks so i havnt had time to get all that stuff yet. i figured that would be fine how it is untill i get the money... which will be tomorrow. the tank is just till he gets a littlebigger and then im getting a 20 long. the temps are about 87on the substrate and about 83 when the thermomiter is about 10 inches off the substrate. the coolside is at like 76 on the bottom and in the air is about 83 (i have foil on the top of the warmside.the hydromiter says 60. he's eaten good twice so far and isnt shy when i hold him anymore

sounds like your on the right track. i would say bump up the temp on both sides a few degrees, but if hes eating well this may not be critical
