    Heavy Breathing
Hope its nothing big, he ate today (only been here for 2 days and slammed on it like no ones business....)

Temp on the hot side is 90... cold side is 80... humidity is 54-60%

young snake just sort of breathing DEEPLY... just lays around like a lazy snake... and breaths hard.... anyone else's snake take long deep breaths?? no noise, as in an upper respatory infection... just thought I'd ask to ease my mind.

    Thanks guys!:salute:

Hold him close to your ear, does it sound like he's struggling to breathe? It may be a RI.

Noisy breathing is worrying as per above post but a ball that is stressed by your presence may take 'deeper' breaths than normal.

no, no noises from it... just heavy.. he struck at me this morning while changing his water bowl lol.. quick little bugger.. he pretty much just rammed his head into my finger.. When I saw him doing it I thought it was going to be a full on bite... but I guess I just wigged him out a little...

One other question... how high temp is TOO high... I caght the thermo spiked at 100* this morning without the fan blowing... maybe thats what it was.. I dont know.:rolleye2:

Temps of 100 degrees will burn your snake :O
What are you using for heat and what are you using to control the heat (thermostat, rheostat...)

    Re: Heavy Breathing
was just using the light itself.... wasnt getting warm enough so, I made some reflectors out of cardboard and aluminum foil... that got it to hot, so.... I just got home from HOME DEPOT with two reostat's... one for Buster (the ball) and one for Jambi (the Kingsnake)

Now, I'm in the process of dialing in the right temp... trying to be a concistant as possible!

On a side note, it didnt stay 100 for very long. Saw it, and immediatly fanned the tank to bring it down.

My learning curve is very fast thank God or I might be in trouble.
