My snake is sexist!

So my Spider ball is being a pain, to say the least, to feed. I used to breed BP's a few years ago and I've never had a more unpredictable BP ever...

He will not eat male rats... only females. I don't get it! I finally figured it out this past week... I through in a male rat for him to eat and he would just sit there in strike position but never actually go for it. 30 minutes go by and still nothing. :confused:

So just for the hell of it, I threw in a female rat... and with no hesitation he went for it. Then I realized the weeks he would eat were the weeks when I had too many female rats and had to feed them to the snakes.

Completely insane... I've never heard of such a thing before. I mean I've heard of the racist snakes and refusing b/c too big, but this just blows my mind!:rofl:

yeah i have problems with colors on my snakes, they like darker colord rats with black or gray being the best all whites or creamsicles they wont eat , but toss em an oreo and its all over

cept jools , she,ll eat anything , you ever see a BP constrict a big mac ? well your about to hehe j/k (maybe a hot wing though)

This is unusual. Usually they prefer males because of the smell.

MAYBE, it was just too smelly for him. :8:

yeah my friend samantha has some snakes like that, one of hers will only eat a black female. nothing else. its nuts, and i dont know how you guys figure it out haha i thank the bp gods that i dont have to deal with that (so far) cuz its gotta be awhile before you notice that your snake is only eating one color. or sex. hmm. when did you realize this?

I got my male BP last Dec and he has gone thru several "eating phases" so to speak since then. They have got to be the pickiest little guys! As long as I get it right eat eats like no tommorrow and he is lucky I cater to him.I have another younger female and 2 RTB that eat anything, any how and anytime. So there is always another snake to feed George's rejects up to 3 times! He eats first then that dictated what the others get! He skips a meal and I change it up till he eats, almost always within a few days. But to be fair to him, he is the sweetest guy and can be handled anytime, even during shed. But yes, BP are finicky!
