Lamp dimmer controlling Flexwatt...
Just a couple quick questions, which way would i have to push the slider on this lamp dimmer to allow the heat tape to get hotter? Do i slide it UP or DOWN? Would allowing more heat make the little red light get brighter or fade away?

And also, how long does it take for the Flexwatt to really heat up fully?
Re: Lamp dimmer controlling Flexwatt...
going down makes it warmer(lol).id really think of getting a t-stat.i know you have prolly heard that a billion but thought id say it one more time
Re: Lamp dimmer controlling Flexwatt...
Allowing more heat/watts would make the light fade.
I think a dimmer would be fine if room temps are stable.
Re: Lamp dimmer controlling Flexwatt...
I'm confused how the thermometer reads the cool side if theres nothing on the heat tape cuz the dimmer doesnt come with a probe like a t-stat does...
Re: Lamp dimmer controlling Flexwatt...
well if there is no heat tape, the ground temp on the coolside will be at ambiant temps.do your have your actual thermometer on the cool side or in the middle somewhere?

yeah my acu-rite is on the cool side
Re: Lamp dimmer controlling Flexwatt...
the ground temp should be close to wat the indoor temp is reading.im thinking of getting a laser thermometer to check these spots,i know they are kinda expensive but i think its worth it in the long run.
Re: Lamp dimmer controlling Flexwatt...
should i have the acu-rite actually touching the ground? its slightly higher than it
Re: Lamp dimmer controlling Flexwatt...
lol,im surprised your snakes dont knock them on the ground, mine do!its really up to you though.i have come to find if you leave them down there more vulnerable to pee or poop and that kinda screws them up,especially the humidity.
if you have extra cash just get a probed thermometer and run the cable in there.ive seen these kind of thermometers for under 10 bucks
