Unthawed as in it is still frozen? I don't think I have had a problem with my frozen rats smelling terrible (the only frozen thing I've come across that smells really bad is a giant millipede I put in the freezer after it died, that smell doesn't go away!).
The water I use to thaw my rats out is the only thing that stinks.

The only time I've ever had a frozen rat smell absolutely horrible, was when I found one of my breeders dead, and put her in the freezer to wait until garbage day to put her out, even though she was frozen and in 4 layers of plastic bags, she STUNK! So with that being said, the rat you have, if not breed and frozen by yourself, has probably been completely thawed out previously. I would not feed it to any snake.

Ohhh okay, I think you were looking for the word thawed, since unthawed would imply that it wasn't thawed, at least that is what comes to my mind when I hear that word.

When I thaw out my frozen rats/mice there is a little smell, but its nothing terrible, at least not to me, but I have horses/cats/rats/sugar gliders so I think most of the stuff I smell isn't terrible for me but for other people the find it unbearable.

Some dead FT rodents stink... its usually from being kept in unsanitary conditions. You freeze a rodent that smells of urine and feces... it is going to stink when you unthaw it...

Does it smell like it has decomposed some? If it does I would not use it to feed your snake. My dethawed rodents have a odd smell but not a nasty smell. I am sure something is wrong with it if it really smells that bad,
