LEANING OFF THE PETSTORE (sorry bout caps)
So I've gotten my first BP, (yes!) but I think we bought the wrong things, well I'm pretty definite. So i'm going shopping today and I need to know what to change and get. Here is the description:

We have eco-earth for the bedding, the kind you wet beforehand.
We have a wooden/half-log hidebox, (not good, mold under it after a day!!!)
We have a lighter, different wood stick thing (no mold.)
And a little black water bowl (snake reccomended.)

PLEASE HELP! If needed, i will post a picture.

    :)BPs FOREVER :)

    also...

The snake is only 2 weeks. So he is in a tank, which the "snake-guy-who-bred-him" said fits. I don't know what size, bu I think it works. If you want pics please ask!

In the upper left corner of this page there is a caresheet to click on. You can get the info that you are seeking there. Aspen is probably the most common substrate. Temperatures are the most essential factor. You don't mention what you are using for a heat source or what you are using to regulate the temperature.

Here's a link to the BP caresheet. If you read through it carefully, you'll not only find very helpful information, it'll also help you ask yourself the right questions about your own set-up. :)

if your hide had mold in it after 1 day something is wrong for sure I would expect the wet eco-earth probably helped. Just bleach the hide and you can use it again. They are not the best hides though. I would put your snake on unprinted newsprint or paper towel for the first month or so just so you can see his urates and poop as well as any mites if he has any. After that i would switch to aspen.
