    RIP Spartacus
As if this week hasn't been stressful enough, I am absolutely heartbroken right now. An hour ago I found Spartacus (my 6 month old light Brahma rooster) dead in front of my chicken coop. Everyone else is OK, and there wasn't a mark on him, so it doesn't look like a predator attack. I was handfeeding him just earlier this evening & am thoroughly confused as to what caused his passing...he was strutting his stuff & acting like his normal goofy self just a couple of hours ago.

I know it probably seems silly to get worked up over a chicken, but Spartacus was really a great roo. He was very protective of his hens if he didn't know you, but if he did, would let you pick him up & cuddle him, take food from your hand & then give it to his hens, a really nice boy. Kevin & I have had him since he was just a few days old & he quickly found a soft spot in our hearts. Our flock just won't be the same without him. :(

Godspeed, Spartacus. Thank you for your silly shenanigans & the happiness you brought us for the short time we had you.

Aw im so sorry for your loss:( I had some ducklings a while back and had my littlest one drown because of a mistake my uncle made when he was duck sitting them, he did not know ducklinigs cold not swim without being with their mothers. I was heart broken. Are you going to get any tests done to find out what happened just in case it is contagous?

Dont worry, it is not silly to get worked up about it, a pet is a pet, regardless of what it is.

Aw Kara I'm very sorry for your loss. I grew up on a farm so I know how hard it can be to lose all types of animals, and I have even had a pet chicken once. :) He was a cutie and I know he had a good life with you!

Kara, I'm so sorry to read of his passing. I know you and Kevin care deeply for your many animals and his death will leave an emptiness there for some time. I'm sure for what time he was with you though, he lived the best sort of life a rooster could have.
