Little Bob Irwin to get his own show?
According to reports, they're working on a pilot for a new show starring 4 year old Bob Irwin, son of the late great Steve Irwin. What do you guys think?

I really have to go with I don't care... I do kind of think they are exploiting him - and that kids shouldn't live their childhood in the media like that - but they were already kind of doing that because of who their dad was.

With the DVDs in the morning and all it sounds kind of unhealthy to me - and I think their mom is pushing them to be like their dad - regardless of what they want.

But in the end... I have more concern for other children in the world for other reasons that some parent pushing their kid into televison and the spotlight, so ... guess I fall under the I don't care.

I loved watching the Croc Hunter and seeing his passion for wildlife and would be thrilled to see it continue with his children. I see nothing wrong with it, children follow in their parents footsteps all the time, how is this any different from a lawyer or doctor, celebrity or not? I just can't see it as exploitation.

Because when they become a lawyer or doctor they aren't 4 years old.

I don't think a 4 year old can make a major decision like this on his own, I'm sure he's getting some influence from his family around him.

When I was 4 years old I wanted to be like my dad, but he wouldn't have let me take up welding... lol

I think it's great that the kids want to take after their father and follow in his footsteps but... I think he's pretty young for something like this! Maybe he should just stick to cameos on his big sister's show for awhile to make sure he actually likes it! All the four year olds I know go through interests like they do underwear. The week after they get all Batman stuff for their birthday, they decide they like Superman instead...

I think you nailed that one. There is no reason he can't work with animals and follow in his dad's footsteps - I think there is no reason they have to throw it up on televison and make money off a show. And YES, that is why networks make shows - for the money. Seems a little bit like exploitation to me.

I guess it must be great to just fall into television becauase of who your daddy was. I'm sure we will all learn a lot from a four year old!! Does anyone really care about what's good for the boy or what he really wants?? I better brush up on my studies, the show may be a bit deep for me. ;)
The media people are afraid of losing the "Steve Irwin" dollar!! Poor kid!!:(
