New homemade Tub/Drawer

Hey, This is one of my new tub/draw things I've built.
It originally was a plastic drawer that I bought, I cut a huge hole in the top and put perspex type stuff on the top with silicone. I soldered holes all the way around, and cut holes in the front and back and put little vents on. I'm keeping my balls in them. The balls are pretty young still, about 2.5 inches long each. I built two of these tubs, so each one can have it's own. What you guys think?
Will this be ok to keep them in, even when they're larger?
The measurements are 600mm long X 400mm wide X 220mm high.
(about 23.6 x 15.7 x 8.7 inches)

Thanks, took me ages to find the right sized tub and with no little gaps that they could sneak out of. And it was really cheap to build!!!:D

Yeah they must be pretty young still! What are they still in the egg? :rolleye2: I'm just pulling your leg man lol.

That is a pretty cool enclosure there ! How much did all of it run you price wise? Are you able to regulate the humidity and temps even with all the ventilation holes? What are you using for heating? Sorry for all the questions but I've thought of doing the same type of thing just never had time lol.

The tubs were R89 each ($11), the vents were like R3 ($0.37) each, the glass type stuff I actually got for free. They were blast screens in our phys chem labs. When they put the new fume hoods in, I got the stuff for free, its polycarbonate or something, strong stuff.
So I guess the whole project cost about R220 ($27), for two complete tubs.
The tubs were cheaper than usual, got that at a really cheap shop. Kind of like a $1 store...

For heat I have a under tank heating pad, on the one side. I don't really worry about the humidity, I spray them before sheds, but with the huge water bowl, the humidity is pretty good. I actually put the vents in afterwards, bacause it was a but stuffy in there with only the little holes, now they have fresh air, And the temp gradient is pretty good too. It's coming to our summer now, so heating won't be that important for a while... although I keep an eye on it anyway.

OH :imslow: totally missed where you were from South Africa lol. I can't imagine you having much problems with them being too cold over there lol. Good luck through your summer months :D

Ya, it's not so bad here whrn they turn the electricity off, which happens quite often. Like yesterday the municiple workers turned all the water off for our town, because they were on strike.
But ya, I figured since ball pythons were from other african countries with similar climates that heating and humidity wouldn't as hard as it is for you guys to reproduce.:taz:
