If...???

I have a just-turned 2 weeks old bp male and he is about a foot long now. I was wondering (yes, this IS for all my "it's-gonna-be-a-big-snake?" friends) how big my little snake is gonna get.
He has albino genes (het., his mother was a pure, but his father's genes were dominant so he looks just the normal) so, i dont know, maybe the stunts or adds to his growth? If it depends on the quality breeder, I did not him from a pet-store.

Actually albino in a BP is a recessive genetic so if his mother was an Albino and his father was a Normal, your snake is a 100% het for albino. :)

His growth, just like any baby BP will be dependent on his food supply and his natural potential for growth. Just like you or me having the potential to be tall because we have tall parents kind of thing. The albino genes your snake carries don't affect that growth because it's just basically the same snake with a different "paint job" really.

A male ball python normally reaches around 3 or 4 feet in length but that's just an estimate with some being bigger and some being smaller.

Jo, technically the OP is correct. Normal or "wild type" in ball pythons is dominant. Hence the reason why a Heterozygous animal for a recessive trait looks normal. The normal gene was dominant in appearance.

LOL got me on that one Tim, I think I needed more coffee before I thought about genetics quite that early in the A.M. :)
