Ghost or Caramel?
Probably sounds like a really stupid question to everyone else, but, I "adopted" a young male corn a few months ago. I wasn't exactly against snakes, but wasn't super fond of the idea of a cornsnake, but had to take him in, or campus police were going to kill him (friend lived at a dorm). I've read up on care and such and he seems to be in good health. However, I cannot figure out exactly what color he is. He's about ready to shed now, so that may mess up his color (again, I'm a newb, I don't know), anyways, he looks similar to the ghosts and caramels, almost in between. I'll upload a picture soon, but, again, I'm not sure if the colors are distorted because of shedding. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's Okie
And, by the way, I just wanted to mention that, shortly after adopting this guy, I've actually fallen in love, and, hubby and I are going to be getting another, and I'm researching ball pythons (how I found this site actually) because I plan to get a male piebald BP in the future. :)

Re: Ghost or Caramel?
Are the saddles more grey or more of a dark brown? does he have yellow in between the saddles? From that picture, it looks like an anery. If they got it from a petco or petsmart, it is highly unlikely that it is a caramel.

Re: Ghost or Caramel?
I agree. Looks more like an Anery or possibly a very dark Ghost. A better, closer picture on a solid color background would help a lot. :)
Either way, congrats on entering the wonderful world of snake. :D

Not sure if that helps any. It's hard for me with this camera. He has yellow tinge starting from behind his eyes going on a little further behind his head on the sides (his neck?) The yellow is in the spots, not between them. I guess I would call the saddles a lavender brown color, or a faded chocolate or something. I'm bad with descriptions. And, I do believe he originally came from a Petco, but I'm not 100% sure. He was "certified" as a male, but I'm not sure if that was done while in the store's care, or if the previous owner had a qualified vet check or what. He will probably shed tomorrow or the day after, so, when he does, I'll try to snap a few more pictures, just in case if he's a little faded from that. Thanks guys, and, sorry for the crappy photos and bad descriptions!

Re: Ghost or Caramel?
oooh ok. No worries. It can be difficult to get pictures of those little wormies and description is very difficult to go by. With that said, it could be a ghost...some of them do have some very light browns in them. They have quite a bit of variation sometimes. You can see the yellow on the sides. It becomes more apparent as they mature. Caramels will have much darker saddles and a little bit of yellowing in the little circles between those saddles (as babies). Ghosts won't have that yellow there, but they can have it on their sides. Since we don't know the gentic history of your snakie, I'm just going by looks here, but even that can be innacurate. I'm sure a guesstimation is just fine though. Here are my two ghosts for comparison if it helps at all. Either way nice snakie :) it's interesting to watch the colors of an unknown corn snake morph mature.

I agree, probably anery A. But yellow says nothing about whether or not its anery A or B, its the eyes.

Re: Ghost or Caramel?
Yup, looks like a ghost or Anery, caramels are really dark. Here are my ghost and anery for comparison:
Anery girl (A), @14 months:

Ghost male, @2.5 years (older pic, but the best at showing his colors):
