Re: Vitamin Powder Yes/No
As far as we know, ball pythons do not benefit from any powder.
They get all the nutrients they need from their regular meals.
Re: Vitamin Powder Yes/No
I've not used vitamin powder on my snakes, however I have used probiotic powder though. Neither of them are really necessary though.
Re: Vitamin Powder Yes/No
I posted this awhile back. The consensus seemed to be there is no proof or evidence that dusting vitamin supplements is beneficial. Making sure the feeders are well fed and well taken care of is your best bet if you're concerned about giving your BP a little boost of nutrition.
Re: Vitamin Powder Yes/No
Ya I don't see the benefits of use a supplement of any kind with Ball pythons, maybe that is just me.
Re: Vitamin Powder Yes/No
i always hear it does nothing for them.
i was at a petstore this one time and i overheard the employee telling the customer he HAD to buy a UVB light, and calcium dust for the health of the BP he was buying as well as a 100w white spotlight for a 10 gal tank!! i had to step in before she killed that poor boys snake.

Yeah it's amazing how much misinformation is out there. When I bought my first BP I had them tell me about the same things and they sold me a dang aboreal cage! I'd done some research before I bought her but obviously not enough. There was even a guy there in the store that was telling me that he had a BP for 4 years and they have to have both UVB and UVA light and vitamin supplements. I should never have listened to him because he was saying that his BP died on him after he'd had her for 4 years. :tears:
Of course I know a lot better now and all my snakes are thriving without any vitamin powder lol.
Re: Vitamin Powder Yes/No
I would assume rodent bones have plenty of calcium, and lots of other vitamins and minerals BPs need.
I read somewhere once that freezing degrades vitamin B, and that F/T rodents are lacking in that vitamin compared to live or P/K, but I don't know how true that is, or if it even has an effect on BPs. It might be a tiny amount that doesn't make a difference.
Re: Vitamin Powder Yes/No
Why would you give your snake probiotics?
