Re: Tail Wag When Feeding???
I've never noticed it, but to be honest I don't spend much time looking at their tails while they're feeding. I'm more watching for the strike so I can make sure I don't need to get in there and stop a snake from getting bitten. I'll have to keep an eye open and see if any of mine do it over the next few weeks.
Re: Tail Wag When Feeding???
The funniest tail wag I ever saw was a female BP when I put her first mate in with her. That was too funny!
Can't say I've ever noticed one during feeding but I'm pretty much watching the front end to avoid getting bitten myself or to monitor the live feeding.
Re: Tail Wag When Feeding???
I've seen Tank do it a couple times. Kinda cute!

I was watching for the strike but noticed that every time she made a move to better her position on her prey, she would give her tail a good wag. Like I said looked like a dog. Almost like she could barely contain herself.
I was also wathcing and filming the strike [to make sure there was no chance of injury], which is why I did not catch the wag on tape. Will try to get a stike clip up soon.
Re: Tail Wag When Feeding???

Don't have a male so she is outta luck. She is a lone BP in this house. :-)

Clickity Click
Here is a quick vid of her hitting her lunch this week. Enjoy. FYI, added the music to drown out the kids watching and the rats squeeling.
Re: Tail Wag When Feeding???
I have one who does it every feeding. Cracks me up :8:
Re: Tail Wag When Feeding???
I can think of two possible reasons she might do this - some snakes use their tails to lure or distract their prey before the strike is one, but what your girl seems to me to be doing is hunting for an anchor point - something she can stabilize herself with during the strike.
Then again, perhaps I'm overthinking it, and she's just excited.
