10g ready for my baby spider

I´m waiting for my male spider to arrive from Hamm. A couple of friends that are there (even as I type) will bring him home.

So, I already prepared the 10g where I´ll keep him for the first year or so (it´s the old tank of my sons´turtles that now have a bigger one - around 50g - that I adapted)

Heated by a 50w cable, controlled by the Lucky Reptile ThermoControl II
(I´m only missing a temp/humidity gauge that is also coming from Hamm and a light fixture - probably the smallest exo-terra)

The sides and backwall are covered with cork sheets (both inside and outside). Provides safety and helps temps and humidity

Where is this heat cable, tho? If it's under the tank you should be ok. Snakes really need heat from below rather than above.

Also, I would humbly suggest two changes: Get a lower and smaller branch, more greenery to take up the space, and a smaller heavier water bowl. This is a hatchling, relatively speaking, and you want to avoid big things. :)

I appreciate your suggestions. The bowl is temporary and I will, in fact, get a smaller one and I´ll also get more greenery. As regards the branch... I think I´ll test this one to see if it works. If not, I´ll change it

By all means, see if the branch works. But keep your eye on him since BPs are not the most graceful and spider balls even less so.

So that's heat cable...I never really saw what it looked like before.
I assume it's snaked or coiled under one side of the tank to provide a good warm area, then. Looks cool.

And yes, you need a thermoSTAT to control it. Dimmers and such are only good if your room temps don't change. Stats run anywhere from $20 for the cheaper 'for now' model, to $80 for midrange good, to $110+ for top of the line.

It looks good. Btw he is using the Lucky Reptile ThermoControl II thermostat. We just are not used to seeing that model....notice it's reading in celcius;) Nice looking setup. I'm not so sure about using paper clips on the lid though. For a baby it might be okay, but when he gets any size to him that might not hold him in.

Also, that branch looks as if it could flip around and be a lower leveled branch.
They tend to fall from high places. :D

Let me know how those hides fit him! I used them a while ago for corn snakes, and even the largest ones seemed so small.
