I need help - at my wits end
My babies hatched on June 25th, and I thought I had everyone eating. I had one baby that was just holding out on me, but I finally got to eat one meal of live hopper mice. Unfortunately, I only had the live hopper mice due to accidently buying a pregnant mouse. I have only gotten two meals into the little baby, and nothing in the last month. I'm starting to freak out. I've tried f/t mice, but it's a no go. Tonight I even tried an assisted feeding, but I was an utter failure. :(

At this point I'm not sure what to do. Do I go and buy some mice and attempt to breed? Any tips on assist feeding? Bang my head into the wall until the snake finally takes pity on my and eats again? UGH!!! Help. :tears:

I would give him a live hopper mouse if I had access to one, but I don't. That's why I have considered breeding a couple until I have a routine better established, but I know quite a few people that have had issues establishing a breeder colony.

Can you find a preggo mouse and skip the male?

Have you tried scenting a rat pup with a mouse? That may or may not work, but maybe worth a try. Otherwise you may just have to breed mice, until they get solidly feeding, or switched over.

Good luck Christie! Sorry they're giving you troubles!

I do have some rats due soon, so I may try that too! Thanks Jason.

    1.) take a deep breath.

2.) who sells live rodents around you? Tell them that you have to get a hopper mouse for your situation. Without a doubt they will be able to call the breeder they get the rodents from and get a hopper.

3.) If for whatever reason they can't / ask the next closest store that sells live rodents the same thing.

I live in a VERY small town, and the only pet stores in the area are PetCo and a Pet Depot. Both get their shipments from out of town. :(

Although I really do need to focus, and look at what options are available to me. I've got a few options here that I'm going to try so I'm not without some hope now.
