anyone have experience with Pannus?

I have a 1.5 year old dog that we believe to be a Dutch Shepherd mix. He's had a recurring issue with one eye that we thought was an infection or allergies. Since the normal treatments didn't help the vet now thinks it is Pannus. I've read all about it, so I don't need to know what it is, but I would like to know if anyone can share their own experiences with it... compare treatments, etc.
