I think it's ridiculous and makes no sense. Pops isn't even a colorful cereal, but they're advertising with bright, moving colors. And what does the lizard have to do with anything? Lizards don't eat pops cereal... And why does the kid with scraggly hair have a squirrel on his (her?) shirt?

It's really bothersome...

That is a sweet commercial. Like others said it is aimed at kid's don't read so much into it.

The meszramise part = the acid looking cartoony bit. Watch the cartoony bit for the squirrels holding boxes of corn pops. The lizard = the dragon. So the girl with the squirrel on her shirt is watching a lizard, tying it all together, with a cute twinkley jingle song and a lot of bright colors and flashing shapes.
Besides... it has a cool lizard and I like corn Pops.

I see LSD is prominent with creative directors again.
